Aftercare Planning
Aftercare is a critical component of recovery. At LifeSync Malibu Healing Center, your aftercare program is something we start working on during the first few days of your stay. We realize that the best treatment is often doomed to failure if you return to a toxic or dysfunctional environment. We emphasize working with you to ensure that you leave with a comprehensive aftercare program that is safe and healthy. At the direction of medical team you will receive a special assessment where you can openly discuss your needs and fears about what you end up doing after you leave. Whether you are returning home or transitioning to a highly regimented sober living environment, we want you to have the requisite tools to stay sober and establish new and healthy support systems that will last a lifetime!

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy or DBT is a powerful tool that has been used for a variety of mental health and addiction disorders. It is both safe and effective and has its core focus on Mindfulness. This type of therapy takes a cognitive approach to life and experience in a way that is both Non-judgmental and Healing. By practicing throughout your stay with us, you will gain valuable insights into who you are and why you do the things you do. In order to better understand this type of therapy, lets take a look at the key components of DBT.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy consists of four groups:
- Mindfulness
- Emotion Regulation
- Distress Tolerance
- Interpersonal Effectiveness
During your stay at LifeSync, you will have an immersive experience in each of the four aspects of DBT. Optimally, each of these components flow seamlessly from one to another in practice. A real strength of this therapy is that it meets you at the place you are at and gently and lovingly brings you forward, allowing you to grow at your own pace. We start out by learning each of these aspects of the therapy. Toward the end of your stay, we will work with you to start to integrate all four aspects of the therapy.
In short, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a multimodal therapeutic intervention that works really well for people with substance use disorders and/or mental health issues. It may sound like a lot, but our highly-trained staff will walk you through it every step of the way.
There is a lot of literature in the scientific community in psychology that shows how this treatment modality is beneficial in developing healthy coping mechanisms and more fulfilling interpersonal relationships.
Medically Assisted Therapy (MAT)
Medically assisted therapy or treatment, otherwise known as MAT, is defined as the use of medical therapeutic (medicines) that aid in the sobriety and recovery of the addict or alcoholic. Each person is different, and each person has different needs. Dr. Geoffrey A. Booth, MD, will address each of your individual needs and work with you to provide the best possible medical care. We will give you the best chance to stay sober for the long term. Medical science is constantly growing and developing, and new treatment modalities and approaches are being published almost daily.
